The Destruction in Mt. Tambora, Indonesia
It was a nightmare in Mt. Tambora, Indonesia, destruction, hurt, crying, and sadness. my name is Anna and I'm 35 years old and the date is April 16, 1816. I served the volcano in Mt. Tambora, Indonesia which was in April 15, 1816 . I live just about 100 blocks away from where it happened but it felt so real and it felt as if it was just around the corner of it but wasn't. I woke up in a great mode, had a good dream, and though my whole day will be the same. I also have two kids name Jerry and Charlene, they were twins that was five years old. and here is my story. the first thing that I heard was a rumbling sound like, at first I didn't know what it was so I continued with my cleaning as always. then when I came outside I seen piece of gravel like rock exploding from the sky.  one actually almost hit me, it would of hurt of it did. but then I ran to my kids because I heard a big rock crashing though the ceiling. one of them got hit, I just started crying because I knew what was going to happen next there was also smoke coming in though the windows and anywhere with cracks, but I put her on my arm and right then her eyes closed up, Charlene past away. I heard lots and lots of people screaming, I was really scared. but I held on to my other child Jerry. I even heard people knocking on the door as if someone was chasing them. I didn't dare open it. after hours and hours of  hearing the tarting of my people I fell asleep. I wake up with a bum in my room and with the TV on and also Jerry still in my arms. the news came on (yesterday had the worst volcano eruption that killed 92,000 people and 10,000 was just from the explosion of it. a memorial will be present) I cried.

Digital Story 2 Narrative

by charlene on Nov.22, 2009, under

My name is Charlene and i was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico but raised in a little island called Vieques, Puerto Rico.I'm going to talk mostly about Vieques, since all my family lives there like my second cousin, and most my mother's aunts and uncles. i have 3 brother but two of them are half brother that lives with my dad,but they live in vieques Puerto Rico. And the other one lives with me in new york. To say straight up I'm one hundred percent Puerto Rican and proud of it. i like the fruits, the food, music, festival, the animal and etc. so I'm going to start of with a little history. so Puerto Rico is near the equator, that's why its so hot there. The degrees is from 85-100 even more. Vieques is about 21 miles long and about 3-4 miles tall, which if you think about it its not that big. Also it can rain for 45-50 inches of rain a year which i kind of hate because it  ruins my beach time. The total population of Vieques is 9,106. 97.4% of the population are Hispanic or Latino, that's whats up. Puerto Rico also hold i think the best festival ever, they play salsa, reggangon, bachada, and all different music they listen to. i also like the fruits that includes mango, tamarind, passion fruit, coconut, guava, pineapple, and also  sugar apple. these are the ones i eat, these are not all the fruits of Puerto Rico, but there is still a lot of great ones. In Puerto Rico there known for also some dishes for example rice and beans with fried plantains, and for using bacon for most of the food including  arozz con gandulas. click here  to see other food sources of Puerto Rico. There are all different animals there, the national animal is a frog which is called a Coqui, we also have lizards, horses, snakesiguanas, bats, and even mongooses. when i go to Vieques, Puerto Rico we try to go horse back riding which i think is fun because you can be one with the horse. About two years ago i found a dead lizard that i wore as a necklace but my dog ate it. yea, that was not a good idea to leave it in top of a table. In the part i grew up in had a yard where you can even play baseball in, it was that big, but there were spikes in the grass/branches but it was all good since we had fun anyways. i even liked going to the beach to chill with my mom and my brother and have BBQ, the one and special reason why i like staying over there was because of my great grandmother but she passed away February 2 of 2010.
