My name is Charlene and i was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico but raised in a little island called Vieques, Puerto Rico.I'm going to talk mostly about Vieques, since all my family lives there like my second cousin, and most my mother's aunts and uncles. i have 3 brother but two of them are half brother that lives with my dad,but they live in vieques Puerto Rico. And the other one lives with me in new york. To say straight up I'm one hundred percent Puerto Rican and proud of it. i like the fruits, the food, music, festival, the animal and etc. so I'm going to start of with a little history. so Puerto Rico is near the equator, that's why its so hot there. The degrees is from 85-100 even more. Vieques is about 21 miles long and about 3-4 miles tall, which if you think about it its not that big. Also it can rain for 45-50 inches of rain a year which i kind of hate because it ruins my beach time. The total population of Vieques is 9,106. 97.4% of the population are Hispanic or Latino, that's whats up. Puerto Rico also hold i think the best festival ever, they play salsa, reggangon, bachada, and all different music they listen to. i also like the fruits that includes mango, tamarind, passion fruit, coconut, guava, pineapple, and also sugar apple. these are the ones i eat, these are not all the fruits of Puerto Rico, but there is still a lot of great ones. In Puerto Rico there known for also some dishes for example rice and beans with fried plantains, and for using bacon for most of the food including arozz con gandulas. click here to see other food sources of Puerto Rico. There are all different animals there, the national animal is a frog which is called a Coqui, we also have lizards, horses, snakes, iguanas, bats, and even mongooses. when i go to Vieques, Puerto Rico we try to go horse back riding which i think is fun because you can be one with the horse. About two years ago i found a dead lizard that i wore as a necklace but my dog ate it. yea, that was not a good idea to leave it in top of a table. In the part i grew up in had a yard where you can even play baseball in, it was that big, but there were spikes in the grass/branches but it was all good since we had fun anyways. i even liked going to the beach to chill with my mom and my brother and have BBQ, the one and special reason why i like staying over there was because of my great grandmother but she passed away February 2 of 2010.
